Mobile Phone Etiquettes

Don’t use mobile phones as basic phone

Over the last decade or so the number of mobile subscribers in India as well as other nations has grown multifold. In India at least no body must have dreamt that mobile phones would become so common that even chaiwalas, bais(the maid servants) and almost everybody will be using it.
But that is not fact of the life.
Off and on there have been warnings coming from various medical societies about the potential dangers of frequent usage of mobile phones. It is always warned that the users might get Cancer and heart problems with the overuse of mobile phones. The other warning “Don’t’ use mobile while driving”. Driving here does not only refer to four wheelers' driving but also includes two wheeler driving or for that matter any type of driving.

Are we really able to follow this advice and control the usage of mobile phones?

I think NO.

We all have become so used to of using mobile phones that we are now enslaved to it. We all should work out a discipline of reducing the usage of mobile phones. Some suggestions for the same are:

1. Please call the person you want to call on his landline. Depending upon the time you can call his/her office or residence as the case may be.

2. In case he/she is not available at these numbers wait for him or her to reach there and you can call again. Alternatively you can always leave a message for the person to call you back in your office or residence or mobile no. if you are not close to any landline no.

3. Please impress upon all your friends/relatives and business associates to call on your landline nos.

4. Mobile phones should be used only if the person is mobile that is he/she is not close to a landline no. and it is very urgent to talk to that person.

5. If you are calling a person in urgency on his/her mobile, please do ask for his location. If he/she is driving ask him/her to call back or to stop at a nearby place and talk. If you are very close you can also SMS to the person to call you back or give brief details of the communication you want to send.

6. Always answer the phone by left ear.

7. When the battery of the mobile is down to the last bar, don’t answer the phone as the radiation is 1000 times.

8. Please don't answer the mobile while its battery is being charged. It has sometimes proved to be fatal.

We all should try to follow the discipline and to reduce the usage of mobile phones for the benefit or our health, health of our friends, relatives and business associates. This will help avoid unnecessary tension and accidents on the road.
